Description
This 2-prong AC power cable features an IEC 60320 C7 “figure-8” connector on one end and a standard NEMA 1-15P US wall plug on the other, designed as a direct replacement for the factory cord included with the PlayStation 5. Thanks to the PS5’s internal power supply, no external power brick is required — this single cable connects the console directly to the wall.

Understanding C-Series Power Cables
The IEC 60320 standard defines many “C-type” appliance couplers. Choosing the wrong one can mean the cord physically won’t fit — or worse, fits but isn’t rated for the device. Here’s how C7 compares to the most common types:
C7 (this cable / “Figure-8”) — 2-wire, ungrounded, rated up to 250V / 2.5A (or 10A / 125V in North America). Distinctive figure-eight / peanut shape. Mates with a C8 inlet. Used on PS5, PS4 Slim, PS3 Slim, original Xbox One, laptops, and small audio gear.
C13 — 3-wire, grounded, rated up to 250V / 15A. The most common IT/computer power cord (“kettle lead”). Mates with a C14 inlet. Used on desktop PCs, monitors, and printers.
C17 — 2-wire, ungrounded, rated up to 250V / 15A. Identical in shape to a C13 but without the ground pin. Mates with a C18 inlet. Used on Xbox 360 S/E, Xbox One S/X, and PS4 Pro (CUH-7015/7115).
C5 (Mickey Mouse / Cloverleaf) — 3-wire, grounded, rated up to 250V / 2.5A. Three-lobed shape. Common on laptop power bricks and projectors.
C15 — 3-wire, grounded, high-temperature (120°C) rated. Looks like a C13 with a notch. Used on electric kettles and some server equipment.
C19 — 3-wire, grounded, rated up to 250V / 20A. Larger, rectangular. Used on high-power servers, PDUs, and enterprise networking gear.
Key distinction for PlayStation owners: The PS5 and PS4 Slim use a C7 (figure-8) cord because their power supplies are internal and low-current. The PS4 Pro (CUH-7015/7115 only) and the original “fat” PS3 used a C17 cord instead — if your cable has a flat rectangular tip with two square holes, you need a C17, not this one.
